Synergy Multi-Academy Trust comprises ten Norfolk schools serving children between the ages of 2 and 18. Our schools work collaboratively together to raise standards and provide education of the highest possible standard, offering the best of opportunities for pupils. The Trust was initially established in 2015. We believe that all of our schools have strengths and areas to develop, and that all can improve through sharing expertise and wisdom. The Trust understands that there will be excellent practice in each school, and that every school will be able to contribute to the development of the Trust as a whole.
We have designed a Religious Education curriculum which aims to develop the children's spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Its main goal is to prepare the children for a rapidly changing world.
At Bawdeswell Primary we follow the Norfolk Agreed syllabus. We work on a 2-year rolling programme and we adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of the children. The learning is sequenced to enable the children to always build on previous learning to deepen and broaden their understanding of Religions. The children are given many opportunities to visit our local church throughout the year and our vicar visits us once a fortnight. Links are made to other areas of the Curriculum including links to RSE and PSHE.
The children start by learning about Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism and Islam. In Year 3 /4 /5 and 6 the children learn about Sikhs, Buddhists and world views. The children learn about special books, rites of passage, places of worship, celebrations, leaders, special foods and beliefs.
This is underpinned by our Values and Ethos statement which shows our aim is for the children to:
Love your learning, Have a positive attitude, Always believe in yourself, Grow your friendships, Be kind.
This is also underpinned in our ‘Learning Wheel’
Be strong, resilient and self-aware, Be curious, inquisitive and have the confidence to explore, Be empathetic, open minded and value difference.
