Synergy Multi-Academy Trust comprises ten Norfolk schools serving children between the ages of 2 and 18. Our schools work collaboratively together to raise standards and provide education of the highest possible standard, offering the best of opportunities for pupils. The Trust was initially established in 2015. We believe that all of our schools have strengths and areas to develop, and that all can improve through sharing expertise and wisdom. The Trust understands that there will be excellent practice in each school, and that every school will be able to contribute to the development of the Trust as a whole.
We have designed our PSHE/RSE curriculum to help the children to achieve their potential by supporting their wellbeing and tackling issues that can affect their ability to learn, such as anxiety and unhealthy relationships.
At Bawdeswell Primary school we follow the Trust adopted policy and teaching and learning plans for RSE. The learning is sequenced to enable the children to always build on previous learning to deepen and broaden their understanding of the world and their place in it. Links are made to other areas of the Curriculum including links to Science such as (Healthy Bodies/Changes and Reproduction) and Religious Education and British Values.
RSE teaching helps the children learn about their feelings, bodies, relationships, beliefs, rights and responsibilities and how to ask for help.
PSHE is taught discreetly in assemblies and indiscreetly throughout the school day. Teaching and learning about friendships, healthy eating, first aid, bike safety, healthy sleep, respect, environmental issues etc. are ongoing topics.
This is underpinned by our Values and Ethos statement which shows our aim is for the children to
‘Love your learning, Have a positive attitude, Always believe in yourself, Grow your friendships, Be kind.
This is also underpinned in our ‘Learning Wheel’
Be strong, resilient and self-aware, Be empathetic, open minded and value difference
